Tree based Restoration Registry
About the Registry
Welcome to the hub of environmental knowledge and action - the Web-Based Registry for Degraded Landscapes in Ethiopia. Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Ethiopian Forestry Development (EFD) this interactive platform is designed to revolutionize how we understand, manage, and restore degraded land across Ethiopia.
Mapping Degradation

Our interactive map provides a visual representation of degraded areas across Ethiopia. This mapping tool allows users to zoom in on specific regions, view satellite imagery, and analyze the extent and severity of land degradation. By overlaying various data layers, including soil quality, vegetation cover, and land use history, stakeholders gain valuable insights into the factors contributing to degradation.

Database of Degraded Land

The heart of our platform is the Degraded Landscape Database, a repository of comprehensive information on degraded land parcels throughout Ethiopia. Each entry in the database includes:

  • Geospatial coordinates for precise location identification
  • Detailed descriptions of the degradation type (e.g., soil erosion, deforestation, desertification)
  • Historical data on land use practices and changes
  • Current status assessments, including severity and extent of degradation
  • Recommendations for rehabilitation and sustainable land management practices
